Postneonatal mortality

Annu Rev Public Health. 1985:6:21-40. doi: 10.1146/annurev.pu.06.050185.000321.

Abstract

In the field of infant mortality I believe we are facing a slower rate of decline in the death rate over the next decade than we have experienced in the past. This follows because a low point has already been reached for the age division beyond one month and because of the stationary condition of the high rate in the first four weeks of life.... It is the concentration of effort upon the causes of infant mortality beyond one month of age which brought about this reduction.
