Relationship between low back pain and life-stressing events among Nigerian patients

J Trop Med Hyg. 1985 Feb;88(1):17-20.

Abstract

A total of 142 patients suffering from back pain were tested with four instrument questionnaires to determine relationships between pain, life-stressing events, anxiety, depression and hostility. Life-stressing events were found to be correlated with pain factors with sensory attributes, with emphasis on pressure and heat. Anxiety was also correlated with life-stressing events. Pain intensity was not correlated to life-stressing events.
