In this issue, history teaches us some lessons about tuberculosis and different policies on health screening with respect to migration. Welshman and Bashford tease apart some of the lessons to be learned from the historical analysis of Australia’s experience of screening migrants for TB, and conclude that sometimes history can help explain what epidemiology cannot.
