Seasonal variation in the diagnosis of type 1 diabetes in south-east Sweden
2007, Diabetes Research and Clinical PracticeCitation Excerpt :The seasonal pattern shows the lowest incidence during the warmer months and the highest incidence during the winter [3,5,12,13]. This seasonal variation is more pronounced in older children than in younger children (<5 years) and also more pronounced in males than in females [4,5,14,15]. Children diagnosed during incidence peaks have more often a preceeding, perhaps precipitating infection [16].
