Regular childhood dental visits, health-related factors and quality of life in later life
2022, Archives of Gerontology and GeriatricsCitation Excerpt :It is an established tool for measuring quality of life in late life (Kim et al., 2015). Moreover, it is strongly correlated with the CASP-19, as well as the Life Satisfaction Index (Blane, Berney, Smith, Gunnell & Holland, 1999). The CASP-measures has also been applied in other well-known population-based cohort studies.
Life course models for upper aero-digestive tract cancer
2015, International Dental JournalQuality of life (QOL) among community dwelling older people in Taiwan measured by the CASP-19, an index to capture QOL in old age
2013, Archives of Gerontology and GeriatricsCitation Excerpt :However, we found lower scores of CASP-19 measures in the pilot study and the main survey (mean 36.3; median 36.5; SD 10.0 and mean 38.2; median 39; SD 7.1, respectively). The CASP-19 score has been shown to decrease with age (Netuveli et al., 2006), thus a possible reason could be the older age distribution in our sample (mean age 75.5) as compared to the ELSA (mean age 65.1) (Netuveli et al., 2006) and Boyd-Orr Survey (aged 65–75) (Blane, Berney, Smith, Gunnell, & Holland, 1999) samples. However, even compared to residents of a UK retirement community with a similar age (mean age 77.5) (Sim et al., 2011), the CASP-19 total scores among older Taiwanese are still low.
