  • A systematic review and meta-analysis of the percentage of revised diagnoses in functional somatic symptoms

    2016, Journal of Psychosomatic Research
    Citation Excerpt :

Although diagnostic tests are very useful in reducing the percentage of misdiagnosis of FSS, patients with FSS may be subjected to unnecessary somatic diagnostic tests. The urge to find a somatic cause for the symptoms often derives from the doctor instead of the patient: doctors have the idea that patients are convinced that their symptoms are the result of a somatic disease, that they insist on somatic interventions, and that they refuse psychological help [37,38]. Also, they feel put under pressure by their patients [39].
